Palafox Market

Walk under the canopy of crepe myrtle trees that line Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza in Downtown Pensacola on any given Saturday morning and you’ll find dozens of local farm, food and art vendors and cheerful shoppers at the weekly Palafox Market.

Local honey, herbs picked fresh that morning, organic eggs, handcrafted jewelry - even local coffee and fresh-baked dog treats!

It’s all on out on the the tables at Downtown Pensacola’s Palafox Market.

What began as a small, seasonal farmers market in 2007 has grown into a bustling, year-round, outdoor market that includes more than 100 vendors selling everything from fresh produce to homemade goods to handmade arts and crafts. Where else can you purchase a bundle of fresh collard greens and a cigar-box guitar in one setting?

In recent years, farmers markets have seen explosive growth across the country as citizens have increasingly come to recognize the need for access to affordable, local, organic foods.

Palafox Market offers consumers a variety of locally grown herbs, fruits and vegetables as well as locally sourced meat, poultry, cheese, and baked goods. Many local chefs frequent the market to get fresh ingredients to incorporate into the culinary delights served at nearby restaurants.

Northwest Florida’s mild winters and long growing seasons mean there is always something new to taste and try, from bountiful summer squash, heirloom tomatoes and peppers to the hearty greens and root vegetables of the cooler months.

Among the rows of tents you’ll also find an array of talented local makers showcasing their fine art, pottery, jewelry, soaps, candles, custom textiles.

All the friendly and knowledgeable vendors offer items that were produced within 100 miles of Downtown Pensacola. Vendors and goods sold at Palafox Market change weekly to accommodate a variety of talents and community interests as well as seasonal produce.

The Palafox Market is located on Palafox Street between Wright and Garden streets. It’s open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.
