Shrimp, snapper, mullet and even sushi - the freshest seafood in town can be found at the iconic Joe Patti's Seafood in Downtown Pensacola. The next best thing to catching it yourself!
From its humble beginnings over 75 years ago, Joe Patti’s has grown into a bustling, bay-front icon that ranked #3 on Coastal Living’s list of Top Ten Seafood Markets in the country. Beyond the impressive array of fresh-from-the-Gulf seafood selections, you’ll now discover a deli and specialty food market, a fresh sushi bar and a gelato shop.
Inside the market, you’ll find a sprawling raw seafood counter that stretches 126 feet in length and displays freshly-caught selections of fish such as flounder, grouper, snapper, swordfish, tuna, mahi mahi, and salmon, along with shrimp, oysters, squid, clams, scallops, and much more. Want to take some seafood home for dinner? They can steam and pack it for you on the spot. Impress your friends back home by letting the experts at Joe Patti’s pack and ship your fresh seafood selections directly to your doorstep.
It all started when Anna and Joe Patti began selling fresh fish from their front porch on Devilliers Street in Pensacola in the early 1930s. Captain Joe’s philosophy was to build trust and create “happy regulars,” by only selling the highest quality fish at a fair price.
Between the 1960s and early 1990s, Joe Patti’s refrigerated trucks provided seafood for restaurants along the Florida and Alabama Gulf Coast. By the late ‘90s, Joe Patti’s turned their focus to retail operations and expanded their store and online shipping operations. Today, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Capt. Joe Patti work in the store, sharing their family’s philosophy of excellent quality and service with more than 100 employees.
The market also has a limited-seating area where they roll some of the freshest sushi in town. It’s a popular local lunch spot - or get your sushi to go!
Once you’ve wrapped up your mullet and steamed your shrimp, visit Amangiari’s Deli and Specialty Food Market to explore distinctive fare from around the world as well as locally made products. You’ll find specialty meats and cheeses, fresh-baked breads and spreads, caviars, oils and vinegars and much more.
When you’re ready for a sweet treat, check out Joe Patti’s delectable selection of fresh cakes, pastries, gelato and specialty coffee drinks. On your way out, grab a fresh stuffed beignet from the food truck out front.
A trip to Joe Patti’s is an adventure all in itself. Come see for yourself why visiting chefs, foodies and bloggers love to talk about this famous landmark.
